A Show of Hands in Austin, MN
Now through October 25, 2024.
From Sally:
I know the title is not very original. I wonder how many calligraphers or guilds have used that one - but I couldn’t come up with anything better - especially for a gallery which is hosting its first calligrapher!
There are two galleries in this historical building. My show is in the lovely small gallery on the second floor.
If you have never visited Austin, MN - you could add this to part of your tour of this growing city - the home of SPAM. There is a lovely main street with great places to eat (I recommend The Coffee Shop on Main for its delicious lattes and tasty chicken salad). The SPAM museum is free and really interesting. There is also a lovely restored theater, The Paramount, which hosts tours.
Finally - if you want to add more to a road trip - The Hormel Institute, University of Minnesota's cryoEM and cryoET facility houses state-of-the-art equipment managed by experts to support biomedical researchers…and you can arrange a tour! Really fascinating.
Austin is just shy of 2 hours south of the Twin Cities.
This retrospective had been exhibited in the Hormel Institute in Austin, MN over the summer. The pieces moved to the Austin Area Arts Center in September and will be on exhibit through October 25, 2024.
