REGISTRATION is now OPEN

Head over to Our Store when you are ready to reserve your seat!

Blackletter & Modern Variations

We will begin by grounding ourselves in a strong, basic form of gothic: Textura. Then we will, variable by variable, morph it through a series of permutations; creating variations, modernizing it and doing projects that are anything but traditional.

Beginners through advanced welcome.

SPECIAL BONUS:

Reggie will be giving all participants of this workshop free access to his online, instructional video, ‘Basic Blackletter’. A link will be sent to participants upon securing a seat for the weekend.

Supplies

Links (in orange) to items below are to give you an idea of what Reggie recommends and also an aid to purchasing. You don’t have to get the exact brand, and of course you can buy them from anywhere.

This workshop is listed on John Neal Booksellers HERE. If you visit, you will see all the supplies that JNB carries that Reggie is requesting.

Special Note on PAPERS Needed

One document you will receive when you register contains 7 guideline sheets. Reggie highly recommends making at least 3 copies of each of the seven onto good paper.

All of the papers need to be 8 ½ x 11 to run through a copier (preferably an ink jet rather than a laser). Most of these papers come in large sheets and will need to be cut down.

From Reggie:

The Pacon paper is the most cost-effective. 100 sheets sounds like a lot but you will never regret having it for lettering at later dates.

  • Beige or light gray paper: Ingres, Burga, or your choice of a good paper - cut down to 8.5x11.

Reggie has taught MANY online workshops. He shares this video with us for his tips on setting up a productive, comfortable space for us while joining via Zoom from home.
