Our Season Kick-Off Member Meeting
This will be our first in person season-opener with all the bells and whistles since 2019! This is the perfect opportunity to reunite with your friends and, well, colleagues! Since we are going back to once-a-year dues payment, it will also be a great time to pay dues for 2023-24 season. We will hear from the board with all the news on what’s to come this year.
In 2020, our first meeting of the season (online, of course) was a “Show & Share” meeting. The board had decided that the best to connect was for anyone in attendance to share what they’ve been working on.
We want to make it a tradition for the first meeting of our new season: to encourage lots member sharing; kind of a “here’s what I did over the summer” thing.
Join Us! - As we kick off our Back to Basics: Gothic theme for 2023-24!
We are starting off our first member meeting of the year with some socializing & sharing then some updates. Everyone is invited to bring some calligraphic piece or practice to share!
There will be a special demonstration:
Joe Balabuszko will be demonstrating how he mixes alcohol inks. He will share finished pieces of art which show the effects of this interesting treatment. Attendees will be able to 'dabble' as well.
This will be followed by a presentation:
'The Art of Writing: The Secretary Hand' - a talk by Colleague Patricia Paolella
Patricia will lead our exploration of this lively gothic cursive through the lens of Tudor England, as we view the amazing work of talented scribes during a very important transitional era.
