Program Director

Purpose: To plan monthly programs for the Colleagues of Calligraphy

THIS POSITION CAN BE CO-CHAIRED!

Perhaps your skills lie with behind the scene work - you could contact presenters, email contracts, etc.

OR

Maybe your talents lie in the in-person coordination. You could coordinate snacks, help set up the physical space at a venue.

You could participate in either of these capacities!

What are “monthly programs”?

  • A program can be a lecture or some other presentation of calligraphic interest

  • It can be a mini-workshop with hands-on activities for members

  • A presenter or teacher can be a member of Colleagues…or not

  • In a “normal” season, two programs are in person and two are online.

Duties*:

  • Works closely with the Workshops Director to plan monthly programs

  • Reserve a room for in-person programs

  • Coordinate snacks and beverages for the in-person programs

  • Help to arrange audio-visual and computer needs to support the program if necessary

  • Arrange payment of the program presenter

  • Work with the board to advertise and promote the program

    • give descriptions of event, bios of presenters and other info to webmaster and others for updating website & social media & newsletter

  • Review and update the Program Director’s annual budget

This is an urgent need. The Board and specifically our Workshops Director have been doing double-duty. Plus, it is always refreshing to have other input!

The Program Director is the mediary between the Colleagues and presenters. The specific duties include communicating with presenters and teachers to schedule dates and getting contracts signed. The best (fun!) part of this position, however, is helping to put together a season of topics that you would want to see presented. Finding the presenters and teachers is a group effort with the entire board, and the Program Director works very closely with the Workshops Director. You don’t have to know great teachers or speakers - you just have to have an interest in various topics related to calligraphy.

All Board members would be readily available to teach you, to support you, and to ensure that you are successful in the role! And…bonus…acting Program Directors, Anne & Patricia have already scheduled much of the coming season, and can share all you would need to know.

Qualifications: A Colleagues’ member with a desire to bring interesting, fun, educational, programming to the entire group.

Social Media

Be part of the COC Tech-graphers Team !

(Catchy title? 😁)

We would love for a member (or members!) to keep up our Facebook and/or Instagram profiles. Posting events, highlighting member profiles, sharing photos from events…and generally keeping us in the social-media loop!

When these are updated, it is great exposure (and fun!) to keep the CoC relevant and in contact with other groups and calligraphers on these platforms. You don’t have to be any sort of an expert…if you have your own profile, you know how to do it! We can give you access to include the CoC in your weekly (daily?) updates.
