Presented by Georgia A. Greeley, Minnesota Center for Book Arts faculty
Versatile for content, this book form is an accordion fold with inset frames cut and folded into the book pages. It has a structural look when completed and closed. Small cover weight squares of paper slide into and out of the frames to make it easy to change content. It has hard covers made from book board, which can be covered in patterned or solid papers, and a ribbon closure.
This book would end up quite large if used for a whole alphabet, but would display variations of one letter well. It would also work well with zenga, haiku, short poems, and limericks.
The instructor will bring all the book materials, glue sheets, and instructions.
Plan to bring $3.00 for a supply fee to be paid to the instructor.
Participants should also bring the following:
Cutting mat
Craft knife
Pencil
Eraser
Ruler
Bone folder
Glue stick
PVA
Glue brush
Paper towels
Patience and imagination.
Optional: An old piece or pieces of calligraphy participants would be willing to cut up and turn into something new for the insets. Inset size: 2 3/4” x 3 3/4” portrait view.
