Zoom Into Color! - Program
Fall is coming and so our world moves from bright greens and clear colors to more intense and jeweled tones - my favorite palette. Let's spend some time with color as the seasons change. We will look at different tools that we can use to add color and interest to our calligraphic works, both in the writing and as details.
We will look at the color wheel, and color harmonies that help make your art sing. We will experiment with your inks, paints and pencils to create different effects in small studies.
My demonstration work will be focused on the uncial hand that I use but be prepared to use what hand is most comfortable with you.
Suggested Supplies:
These are suggestions - gather what you have and like to work with - that are similar
Color wheel - not a print-out but one that spins.
Watercolor pencils, paints, ink and brushes and pens - what you have.
Pens - 6mm Parallel clean (empty) pen, Brause-0 or Automatic 1/4" or thereabouts - we will work big
1/4" or 1/2" flat brush too - again, working big
An acrylic ink - metallic or shimmer is pretty
A good mixed media paper like Bellofy Artist Pro Mixed Media 98 lb, Canson Mixed Media, or a heavier drawing paper that can take some wet media
Fine spray spray bottle, a straw or blowing tube
Ruler, pencil, eraser, water, cloth, etc - your normal stuff
For this program, we will replace our in-person Show & Share and our after-Program Review with an opportunity for all attendees to share their own mini-review and something they created during the program. These will be shared on our website on the review page.
Please email an image and one-to-two line review to webmaster@colleaguesofcalligraphy.com by September 26, 2020. We will remind everyone at the end of the program.
Visitors are always invited to attend a free program to see if they would like to join our guild. If you are not a member and would like to attend, please register as directed for everyone. At the time of registration, you will be asked for some contact information and membership status.
