This online program will focus on preparing and using a quill pen for both the new and experienced quill pen user. If participants wish, they can purchase quill pens from Dennis through his website for $9 each, plus shipping but there is no requirements for the viewer to have a quill handy.
We will start this program with some Colleagues’ news and updates. Then at 1PM, Dennis will share some of his expertise on this king of writing implements.
Colleagues of Calligraphy member Dennis Ruud has had a fascination with calligraphy, manuscript gilding, quill pens and hand binding since 1976. Inspired and instructed by George Yanagita in the craft of quill pen cutting and knifemaking, he has been selling hand cut quill pens on his website for many years. Dennis spends most of his time restoring books in his home workshop, having previously spent a number of years in Northfield at St. Olaf and Carleton College, restoring their Special Collections books.
